On Wednesday, Aug. 24, Kevin Wade was sentenced for first-degree carjacking, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

The charges stemmed from a carjacking Wade committed in April 2021 in Atlantic City. After forcing the car’s owner out of the car, Wade took police on a chase through Atlantic City and surrounding towns which ended when Wade lost control of the car and crashed.

At his sentencing hearing, Wade requested that the judge reduce his sentence from 10 years to eight years. The court denied his request for a reduced sentence.

Wade’s sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act which means Wade must serve 85% of the 10 years before he is eligible for parole. Once granted parole, Wade will be subject to intensive parole supervision by the department of corrections for an additional five years. Wade was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim for the damage he caused to the car.
